Fans of adorable baby pandas are in for a treat: The San Diego Zoo has introduced a baby panda app for iPad users.
The app, called Baby Panda’s New Home, tells the story of the birth of baby panda Zhen Zhen and her early years at the zoo, from her first doctor visit and birthday parties (including giant cakes) to her eventual relocation to China to live at the Wolong Nature Reserve.
“The baby pandas at the San Diego Zoo have generated tremendous interest with the public,” said Ted Molter, director of marketing for San Diego Zoo Global. “Creating an app that shares these adorable bears with kids in an educational way helps us to continue our mission of conserving these animals.” [Read: The 500 Cutest Animals]
At the core of the app is a children’s book, but it also includes various forms of media to tell Zhen Zhen’s stories, such as high-definition videos, games, sounds, photos, fun facts and activities.
The app, which is available for $3.99 at the Apple iTunes Store, also features information about the lives of other pandas at the zoo and their natural environment.
